Amanda Williamson

Child, Youth & Adult Psychologist

Telephone: 0477 771 646

Amanda has over 10 years of experience working as a psychologist in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals and the community sector. The focus of her practice is providing psychological assessment and counselling to children, adolescents and adults.

Amanda works with children and their parents or caregivers on a range of social, emotional, developmental, and behavioural difficulties that affect daily life. Counselling can assist young people by providing them with an opportunity to talk to an impartial person about their life from their perspective, and learn a range of positive coping and problem-solving strategies.

Where appropriate, Amanda works collaboratively with parents or carers of child and adolescent clients to support positive counselling outcomes. Parents are seen with, and sometimes without, their child to discuss how to best support counselling strategies at home and school. Parents are also offered separate sessions to problem solve parenting challenges, discuss behaviour management strategies and for support managing the many and varied reactions and emotions parenting can evoke.

Amanda also specialises in providing formal developmental, cognitive and educational assessments for children and adolescents.

Amanda is available at Holden Street Clinic two days per week and can accommodate after-hours appointments. Fees are available upon request and reduced fees are offered to full-time students and health care card holders, or as negotiated based on your circumstances.

Amanda is registered with Medicare and ATAPS (Access to Allied Psychological Services). She is also a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
